The Alaska State Board of Pharmacy is responsible for licensing pharmacy technicians in the state, as well as enforcing all laws and regulations pertaining to drug distribution. The board offers a free, online Learning Course for pharmacy technicians. This course covers topics such as drug classification, legal issues and laws, safe storage procedures and more. The Board also provides a list of approved textbooks for this course.

The state of Alaska requires all pharmacy technicians to take an approved Learning Course before they can be certified by the state. In addition to the online course, students must pass a written exam with at least 80% accuracy.

Once they have passed this exam and completed the online Learning Course, applicants must submit their application along with a $50 fee to receive their certificate as an Alaska pharmacy technician.
