The Arizona Office of the State Assayer (ASA) offers a comprehensive course on the physical, chemical, and geologic principles that underlie the practice of assaying precious metals and other elements. This course is designed to acquaint participants with basic assaying methods, including gravimetric and volumetric extraction, atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS), inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS), X-ray fluorescence (XRF), and flame photometry. The course covers both theory and practical application of these methods through hands-on exercises using standard laboratory equipment. Participants will also learn about relevant aspects of mineralogy, geochemistry, petrology, metallurgy, and analytical chemistry that are useful in understanding their own work or in the evaluation of published data from other sources.

The class meets twice per week for two hours each day for a total of four weeks. Class size is limited to six people per session to ensure a high level of interaction between participants and instructors. Learning Course is a platform that helps students to study and learn. The platform provides all the required material for the students to study. The material includes Study guide, Exam Questions & Answers, Study Notes and other resources that are useful for the students. It also gives information about the upcoming exams so that students can prepare themselves accordingly.
