[Arizona (AZ) Counselor, Professional or Associate Learning Course] The Arizona (AZ) Counselor, Professional or Associate Learning Course is a course that provides an introduction to the profession of counseling. It is designed for individuals who are interested in obtaining their license as a counselor as well as students who are pursuing a career in mental health. Students will be introduced to the history, research and current trends in the field of counseling. Students will also learn about different theoretical approaches to helping others including a variety of modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT), family systems theory and Gestalt therapy. Students learn about ethical issues related to counseling and how to provide effective feedback and suggestions to clients.

The Arizona (AZ) Counselor, Professional or Associate Learning Course is approved by the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners for 16 hours of continuing education credit (CE).
