This is a course designed to give you the knowledge, skills, and testing required to obtain your Illinois (IL) Nursing Home Administrator Certification. This course is designed to prepare you to become the administrator of a nursing home, long term care facility or residential care facility. You will learn the steps necessary to successfully operate a nursing home including hiring and firing employees, developing policies and procedures, training employees and much more all while maintaining compliance with state regulations. You will also learn how to manage healthcare services including medical records, billing and reimbursement, patient privacy laws as well as legal responsibilities for providing safe care in accordance with state regulations.The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) licenses and regulates all nursing facilities in the state. The Nursing Home Administrator (NHA) is responsible for the overall operation of a nursing home facility, including financial, staffing and patient care issues.

The NHA must be able to evaluate resident needs, develop treatment plans and implement procedures for improving residents' health status. The NHA also ensures that all federal and state regulations are met at all times.The Illinois Nursing Home Administrator Practice Exam is a 60-question, open-book exam that will test your knowledge of Illinois law and regulations regarding nursing homes. This practice exam is based on the 2017 edition of the Illinois Nursing Home Administrator Licensing Law and Rules, which are available for download here.

The exam is divided into two sections: Part I (50 questions) and Part II (10 questions). You must score at least 70% on Part I to proceed to Part II, and you must score at least 80% on Part II in order to pass.
