The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) has partnered with the Illinois State Museum to offer a taxidermy Learning Course. The course provides opportunities for students to learn and practice taxidermy techniques from professionals in the field. Students will have an opportunity to work on projects ranging from small mammal skins to larger species such as deer or elk. This course is designed for anyone interested in pursuing a career as a professional taxidermist, but is also open to anyone interested in learning more about this field.
Students will be provided with necessary tools and supplies during the course of instruction. Students must provide their own vehicle and transportation to get to class each day.
The instructors are professionals who have years of experience working with different types of wildlife, including mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians. Learning Course is a platform that helps students to study and learn. The platform provides all the required material for the students to study. The material includes Study guide, Exam Questions & Answers, Study Notes and other resources that are useful for the students. It also gives information about the upcoming exams so that students can prepare themselves accordingly.
