[Maine Dental Hygienist, Independent Practice License Learning Course] The Maine Dental Hygienist, Independent License Learning Course is a four-week, part-time program designed to prepare students to become a licensed dental hygienist in the state of Maine. This course offers an alternative route to licensure for those who have completed their general education degree and are interested in practicing as a dental hygienist. For this reason, it is only open to graduates of accredited colleges or universities who have earned at least 60 credit hours of college-level coursework.
Students enrolled in the Maine Dental Hygienist, Independent License Learning Course will complete core classes in anatomy, physiology and microbiology; oral pathology; oral hygiene procedures; pharmacology; radiography; periodontics and oral surgery; operative dentistry; office management; laboratory techniques; and community health services. Additional electives may be available depending on student interest and availability of faculty.
The goal of this program is to help students develop the knowledge base necessary to practice as a licensed dental hygienist in Maine. The curriculum covers all aspects of patient care including examination techniques, diagnosis and treatment planning; prevention education related to disease prevention through oral hygiene instruction; restorative dentistry such as fillings, crowns, bridges and License Learning Course is a platform that helps students to study and learn. The platform provides all the required material for the students to study. The material includes Study guide, Exam Questions & Answers, Study Notes and other resources that are useful for the students. It also gives information about the upcoming exams so that students can prepare themselves accordingly.
