The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) requires a person to be licensed to practice falconry. A person must be at least 18 years old, and have at least two years of experience with captive raptors before applying for the permit. The DNR issues a $30 permit to practice falconry for one year.
Falconry Permit License Learning Course Requirements
You must take a Minnesota Falconry Permit License Learning Course (PC). The course is offered by the MN Chapter of the North American Falconers Association (NAFA-MN) and consists of three classes held on consecutive weekends at various times during the year. The PC teaches students about the biology, care, and husbandry of falcons, hawks and owls, as well as their legal requirements in Minnesota. There are no prerequisites for taking this course; however, you must have taken an introductory class or equivalent experience with birds of prey before enrolling in this course.
Falconry Permit Practicum Requirements
After completing your PC and passing an exam covering material presented in class, you may apply for your falconry permit at any time during the next calendar year by submitting an application form along with payment to the MN DNR office in St License Learning Course is a platform that helps students to study and learn.
