A Class B electrical license is required to install, maintain and repair electrical wiring and equipment in residential and commercial buildings. South Dakota's Electrical Licensing Board has jurisdiction over the licensing of all electricians in the state. This course is designed to prepare you for the state E-10 test. You'll learn about electrical theory, code requirements and safety practices. Upon successful completion of this course, you will receive a certificate that fulfills the educational requirement for obtaining your South Dakota Class B Electrician's license.
South Dakota Electrical Code:
The South Dakota Electrical Code is based on national codes such as the National Electrical Code (NEC) and NFPA 70E as well as state laws and regulations. The state adopted these codes because they provide minimum standards for safe electrical installations. The NEC is updated every three years by an addition known as a "supplement." Each supplement contains changes made to the NEC since its last edition was published along with new requirements not previously contained in the NEC itself but which are deemed necessary due to technological advances or other reasons.
