The South Dakota Dental Hygienist Practice program is designed to prepare students to sit for the National Board Dental Hygiene Examination. This course combines classroom education with clinical practice. The course is taught by full-time faculty who have extensive experience in dental hygiene education and practice.
Course Description
The South Dakota Dental Hygienist Learning Course is a self-paced, one-year program that consists of a total of 1,800 hours of didactic instruction and clinical practice. The didactic portion of the program focuses on dental hygiene concepts, procedures and materials; patient care; oral anatomy and physiology; oral pathophysiology; periodontology; radiography; community health dentistry; evidence-based medicine; clinical ethics; nutrition; pharmacology; radiographic positioning and interpretation; endodontics/perio prophylaxis/periodontics/oral surgery/pediatric dentistry/orthodontics/endodontics/oral surgery/pediatrics dentistry/orthodontics (administered through American Dental Association accredited universities). The clinical portion of the program includes supervised clinical experiences in various types of dental settings including private practices, schools, hospitals or public health programs Learning Course is a platform that helps students to study and learn. The platform provides all the required material for the students to study. The material includes Study guide, Exam Questions & Answers, Study Notes and other resources that are useful for the students. It also gives information about the upcoming exams so that students can prepare themselves accordingly.
