Dental Hygiene and Dental Assisting

This course is designed for students who are currently enrolled in a dental hygiene program or have completed a dental hygiene program and are interested in pursuing a career as a dental assistant. Emphasis will be placed on the practice of dental assisting, including the development of treatment plans, radiographic interpretation and sterilization procedures. The course will also provide information related to infection control, patient care and office management. This course meets the requirements for certification by the American Dental Assistants Association (ADAA).

The South Dakota Board of Dentistry requires that all licensees complete an approved course in infection control within one year after licensure. This course satisfies this requirement.
