The South Dakota Emergency Medical Technician Learning Course is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to care for and transport sick or injured patients. Students will learn about anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, pharmacology and cardiac life support (CPR), as well as how to administer medications, interpret electrocardiograms (EKGs) and perform basic airway management techniques. The course also covers how to apply bandages, splints and other supportive measures in emergency situations. Upon completion of this course, you will be able to take your certification exam through the South Dakota Department of Health's Bureau of EMS.
