This course is designed to meet the requirements for practicing as a Licensed Professional Counselor in South Dakota.

The course is offered by Dr. Marvin Bressler, PhD, and Dr. David Treadwell, PsyD., two licensed clinical psychologists in South Dakota who are experienced and skilled in providing professional counseling services to clients with a wide range of difficulties.

The South Dakota Licensed Professional Counselor Learning Course includes the following features:

The course includes all required content for licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor in South Dakota. However, it does not include the passing score on the National Certification Examination for Professional Counselors (NCE). This exam is required for licensure in South Dakota but can be taken after successful completion of this course. In addition to the required content for licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor, this course also includes general information about mental health counseling practice that is useful for all counselors-in-training regardless of their future employment setting or specialization area (e.g., school counseling, private practice). The course also includes many practical skills training videos that demonstrate how to use particular counseling techniques effectively with clients. It also gives information about the upcoming exams so that students can prepare themselves accordingly.
