The South Dakota Licensed Professional Counselor (LPCC) is a professional counselor who has met the standards of education and training established by the South Dakota Board of Examiners for Licensed Professional Counselors. The LPCC has advanced knowledge in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of emotional, mental and behavioral disorders through a variety of counseling modalities.
South Dakota requires that licensed professional counselors must have obtained a master's degree in counseling or a related field from an accredited college or university with at least 24 hours of supervised clinical experience completed within the last two years prior to application for licensure.
