Physical therapists in South Dakota must complete a physical therapist Learning Course to fulfill the educational requirements needed to obtain a physical therapy license in the state. The course is designed for students who are currently enrolled at an accredited physical therapist education program.

Students in the program follow a curriculum that includes courses in anatomy, physiology, kinesiology and clinical medicine. Students also complete a clinical practicum where they learn how to work with patients under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist professional.

Once students have completed their coursework, they can take the National Physical Therapy Exam (NPTE) or the Comprehensive Examination for Licensure (CLE).
