The South Dakota Physician Assistant Learning Course is a two-year program designed to prepare students for entry level employment as a physician assistant (PA) in the state of South Dakota. Students will be prepared to take the Physician Assistant National Certifying Exam (PANCE) and apply for licensure as a physician assistant in the state of South Dakota. The curriculum has been developed with input from the South Dakota Academy of Physician Assistants and includes courses that meet or exceed national standards set by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA).

The program consists of 28 didactic credits, 12 clinical credits and 75 clinical hours, which include 10 weeks of clinical experience during each summer session at locations throughout the state. Courses are taught by faculty who are certified by ARC-PA and licensed physicians who have years of experience practicing medicine and teaching in rural settings. The course has been approved by the South Dakota Board of Medical and Osteopathic Examiners as meeting all requirements necessary for licensure as a physician assistant in the state of South Dakota.
