In South Dakota, provisional SLP licensees must meet all the requirements of a full professional license, except for passing the national exam. The provisional license lasts for two years and allows you to practice speech-language pathology in South Dakota without supervision.
If you pass the national examination by the end of your provisional period, then you will be eligible for a full professional SLP license. If not, then you must reapply for another provisional license.
The South Dakota Board of Examiners for Speech Language Pathology and Audiology requires that all applicants complete 15 hours of continuing education every two years in order to renew their provisional SLP license.
