Welcome to the South Dakota School Psychologist Learning Course. This course is designed to help you gain a better understanding of the South Dakota School Psychologist Practice Act and how it affects your practice. The material covered in this course will be based on State law, administrative regulations and guidance.

This course is intended for all South Dakota licensed school psychologists who have not received formal training in school psychology or who have not worked within a school setting prior to licensure. It is also intended for those who are currently practicing within a school setting but who have not worked with students with disabilities.

The purpose of this course is to provide you with an overview of the legal requirements for practicing as a school psychologist in South Dakota. It does not replace or substitute for any other training or education required by law or regulation that may be necessary for obtaining employment or performing duties within schools.
