[South Dakota Speech-Language Pathologist Learning Course] This course is designed to provide you with the information you need to become a speech-language pathologist in South Dakota. It includes an overview of the profession, an introduction to communication disorders and related services, and some basic treatment approaches for common speech, language and swallowing disorders.

This course does not include information about clinical management of specific disorders or treatments. It is intended only as an introduction to the field of speech-language pathology, and should not be construed as providing all of the knowledge required for clinical practice. In order to become licensed as a speech-language pathologist in South Dakota, students must also complete a Master's degree program and complete two years of supervised clinical experience under the supervision of a licensed SLP or ASHA-certified supervisor; this course will not satisfy these educational requirements.
