This course is designed to provide both the student and the instructor with a solid foundation of their knowledge of stabilization ponds. The student will learn how to design and construct a simple, low-cost earthen stabilization pond as well as how to operate and maintain it. The instructor will learn how to teach this course. The student will have an opportunity to visit several existing ponds in South Dakota during the course, including one that is operational.

The course is designed for wastewater treatment operators, site engineers and planners, utility managers and others who are interested in learning more about stabilization ponds or who need basic information on this treatment method.
