The Tennessee Occupational Therapy Practice Act (TOTPA) requires that all applicants for licensure as a Licensed Occupational Therapist (LOT) must pass the National Counsel Licensure Examination for Occupational Therapy (NCLEX-OT). In addition, all applicants must either hold or be eligible to hold a current license from another state as an occupational therapist or have passed the TN Board of Occupational Therapy exam.

Candidates who have not completed their degree in occupational therapy from an accredited educational institution may apply to take the TN Board of Occupational Therapy exam if they are licensed as an occupational therapist in another state and meet other criteria established by the board by rule.Tennessee (TN) OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST License Learning Course

Tennessee (TN) OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST License Learning Course

The Tennessee Occupational Therapist Practice Act of 2014 requires all individuals practicing as occupational therapists to be licensed by the state of Tennessee. The law also provides for the licensure of occupational therapy assistants who practice only under the supervision of a licensed occupational therapist.

The Tennessee Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners is responsible for administering and enforcing Tennessee's occupational therapy licensing laws and regulations. The Board is comprised of eight members who are appointed by the Governor to serve four year terms.

The Board has established regulations that include standards for the education and training required for licensure as an OT or OTA in Tennessee. Applicants must have successfully completed a baccalaureate degree program in occupational therapy from an accredited institution; taken national certification examinations; completed 1,200 hours of supervised clinical experience (500 hours if registered with another state's board); passed an ethics examination; passed a jurisprudence examination; submitted fingerprints; and paid fees.

Applicants are also required to complete continuing education requirements every two years while they are practicing in Tennessee License Learning Course is a platform that helps students to study and learn.
