Tennessee Physical Therapist Practice Act

Tennessee Physical Therapist Practice Act

The Tennessee Physical Therapy Practice Act (the "Act") was enacted by the Tennessee General Assembly and became effective on July 1, 1980. The purpose of the Act is to provide for the licensure, regulation and discipline of physical therapists in Tennessee. The Board of Physical Therapy Examiners (BPTE) is created under the authority of the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance to administer the Act. The BPTE is a state agency headed by a board of nine members appointed by the governor with consent of the senate. The BPTE's regulatory authority includes:

Licensing - All applicants must be licensed according to state law before they can practice physical therapy in Tennessee;

Reciprocal Licensure - A PT license holder from another state may be granted reciprocal licensure if they meet all other requirements for licensure; and

Disciplinary Action - If a licensee violates any provision of their license or any rule adopted by the BPTE, they may be subject to disciplinary actions including suspension or revocation of their license. License Learning Course is a platform that helps students to study and learn. The platform provides all the required material for the students to study.
