The Tennessee Polygraph Examiner Internship Program is a training program designed to provide an opportunity for licensed polygraph examiners who have not completed their training and experience requirements to obtain the knowledge and experience necessary to pass the Tennessee Polygraph Examiner Examination. The program includes a curriculum of formal classroom instruction, and the student will work under the direction of an experienced and qualified Tennessee Polygraph Examiner for approximately one year. This course is taught by experienced polygraph examiners with extensive backgrounds in law enforcement, private investigation, criminal justice, and psychology. In addition to classroom instruction, students will be provided with textbooks and other materials needed to successfully complete this course.

The course includes an overview of polygraph instrumentation used in the field today; basic principles of human physiology; physiological reactions to stress; psychological factors associated with deception; legal issues surrounding polygraph examination; examination procedure development and administration; chart analysis; post-test interview techniques; report writing; professional conduct guidelines; ethics standards; a review of applicable laws governing polygraph exams in Tennessee; and more!
