Polysomnography is a registered sleep medicine specialty of the American Board of Sleep Medicine (ABSM). The ABSM conducts certification examinations for those who wish to become board-certified in polysomnography.
The Tennessee Polysomnography Board Certification Preparation Course is a 2-day course that includes lectures and hands-on training. It is designed for physicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners who want to prepare for this examination. The course provides participants with the skills needed to perform overnight diagnostic polysomnography and to interpret electroencephalography recordings during wakefulness, rapid eye movement (REM), non-rapid eye movement (NREM) sleep stages 1, 2 and 3, slow wave sleep stages 3 and 4, with or without arousals, periodic limb movements (PLMs) during NREM sleep stages 1 through 4, sleep stage transitions and arousals; apnea/hypopnea index (AHI), oxygen saturation monitoring and oximetry data acquisition; multiple sleep latency tests (MSLT); hypersomnia evaluations; hypoxia evaluations; nocturnal seizures License Learning Course is a platform that helps students to study and learn.
