The Vermont Respiratory Care Practioner Learning Course is designed to provide you with the knowledge and skills necessary to perform multiple aspects of respiratory care. The course includes a comprehensive review of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology and medical terminology as it relates to respiratory therapy. You will learn to perform airway management techniques including endotracheal intubation and take-home bag mask ventilation. You will be introduced to the principles of mechanical ventilation including modes of mechanical ventilation and their indications. This course also includes a review of basic pediatric pulmonary function testing, pediatric bronchoscopy, pleural drainage and chest physiotherapy techniques.

The Vermont Respiratory Care Practioner Learning Course is designed for those who have completed an accredited respiratory therapist program and are currently practicing in a hospital setting or private practice setting where they are required to perform some aspects of respiratory care without direct supervision by a physician (e.g., emergency department).
