Virginia requires that all mechanical engineers be licensed in the state of Virginia. The exam is the EIT (Engineering In Training). You must show proof of your education and experience to take this exam. After passing the EIT, you are then eligible to take the PE (Professional Engineer) exam. The PE exam consists of two parts: the fundamentals part and the section B examination (which is based on your specialty area). Once you have passed both parts, you may apply for a license in Virginia.
