The Virginia Board of Counseling requires marriage and family therapists to complete a minimum of 30 hours of continuing education every two years. The Board has approved the following course for the required continuing education credits:

Marriage and Family Therapy Practice: Orientation to Client-Centered Therapy and Focused Interviewing; Therapeutic Relationship; Assessment; Intervention Workbook; Advanced Interventions Workbook; Ethics & Professionalism in Marriage and Family Therapy (3 CE hours)
