Nuclear medicine technologists prepare and administer radioactive drugs for diagnostic imaging examinations. They work under the supervision of a physician who orders the examination and interprets the results. Nuclear medicine technologists also may perform non-medical tasks such as operating equipment, cleaning radioactive materials, preparing patients for examination, and using radiation detection instruments.
