About Surgical Technologist Learning Courses
What is a Surgical Technologist? A surgical technologist is an allied health professional trained to assist in surgical procedures. Their duties include prepping and positioning patients before surgery, passing instruments and supplies during surgery, and cleaning up after surgery. In Washington State, there are two levels of certification: "Certified Surgical Technician" and "Certified Surgical Technician - Advanced." These certifications are regulated by the Washington State Department of Health.
What does it take to be certified as a surgical technologist? In order to be certified as a surgical technician in Washington State, you must complete an accredited training program that includes 1500 hours of hands-on instruction and pass written examinations administered by the Department of Health.
