The Washington State Surveyor's Association has an online Learning Course that every aspiring surveyor must complete. This course is designed to provide the student with a comprehensive overview of what it takes to become a professional surveyor in this state. The course covers topics such as property descriptions, right-of-ways, legal descriptions and more.

Students will also learn about how to read topographic maps and locate boundaries on the ground. It is highly recommended that students complete this course prior to taking any other courses related to surveying or engineering.
