The West Virginia Animal Technician Learning Course is designed to prepare students for the Certified Animal Technician Exam offered by the American Association of Veterinary State Boards. The course covers all aspects of veterinary technology, including animal handling, anesthesia, surgical care, laboratory techniques, pharmacology and pharmacy, diagnostic imaging and physiology. Students will learn about a variety of species from cats and dogs to horses and birds.

The course meets the requirements for certification as a Certified Animal Technician in West Virginia through the American Association of Veterinary State Boards (AAVSB). The exam takes place at the end of the semester, with a passing score required for certification.

Students enrolled in this program should be prepared to take notes during lectures; however, there are no textbooks required for this class.
