The occupational therapy assistant License Learning Course is designed to prepare students for certification as a registered occupational therapy assistant (AOTA). Students will learn about the nature of occupation, therapeutic interventions, and ethical and legal considerations. Students will also develop an understanding of human development and growth throughout the lifespan. The course is offered in three sections, each covering specific topics related to occupational therapy. The first section covers the history of occupational therapy and the role that the occupation plays in health care. The second section covers the anatomy and physiology of occupation, including musculoskeletal function and biomechanics, balance, posture, and motor development. The third section discusses common diagnoses seen in occupational therapy settings along with treatment options and goals.

Students who successfully complete this course will be eligible to take the national certification exam given by the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA).
