The course provides an introduction to the profession, including career opportunities and responsibilities; ethical standards and legal considerations; counseling theories and approaches; counseling interventions in schools; and assessment techniques. Students will learn about career options within this field as well as ethical standards required by law. They will also learn about various counseling theories that can be used when working with students who have unique needs or are experiencing difficulties at home or school.
