This Wyoming Psychological Practitioner Learning Course is approved by the Wyoming Board of Examiners for Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists (WBLEPT) and the Wyoming Board of Psychology (WBP). The course is designed to meet the standards established by these boards. This course provides an overview of the laws, regulations, ethics, and practice standards that must be followed in order to practice as a psychologist in Wyoming. The course covers topics such as professional identity development; community engagement; assessment, diagnosis and treatment planning; evidence-based interventions; ethical decision making; supervision; documentation; risk management; legal issues; cultural competence; professional development; professional accountability and self-care strategies. Students will learn about relevant legislation and statutes regarding psychologists in Wyoming, including confidentiality laws, code of ethics, malpractice liability insurance requirements, etc. This course includes interactive activities that allow students to apply what they have learned through case studies and simulations. Upon successful completion of this course, students will receive a Certificate of Completion from WBLEPT which may be submitted toward fulfilling license renewal requirements for LPCs/LCSWs/LGSWs seeking licensure as a psychologist or social worker in Wyoming. It also gives information about the upcoming exams so that students can prepare themselves accordingly.
